Ebook {Epub PDF} The Facility by Simon Lelic
Would you try another book written by Simon Lelic or narrated by Paul Panting? I thought Simon Lelic's first novel, Rupture, was exceptional but I couldn't get on with The Facility at all. So much is left for the reader to figure out over time - especially when it comes to what the Facility is and why it exists - . Simon Lelic is the author of The Liar's Room, The House (a Radio 2 Book Club choice and Observer Thriller of the Month), Rupture (winner of a Betty Trask Award and shortlisted for the John Creasy New Blood Dagger, as well as the Galaxy Book Awards), The Facility and The Child Who (longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger and CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger ).4/5(20). As with Rupture then, Lelic takes real social issues and weaves a tale of moral dilemmas. The Facility shares many of the good things about Lelic's first book - believable characters and strong, realistic dialogue and there's no doubt that it's a well written book that I enjoyed, but it's not quite in 4/5(20).

As well as being an unputdownable thriller The Facility is a book with something to say about the price any country and its citizens must pay for security. However Lelic never lectures us and when we reach a tense confrontation on a railway platform in the last chapter readers will be checking their increased pulse rate rather than their consciences' Daily Express. Well-crafted, fast-paced, and totally compelling, The Facility is a brilliant thriller that resonates eerily with the timbre of our times. Fiction Dystopia Thriller Mystery. pages, Paperback.
